Platforming – Lou Taylor
Today is your very last chance to visit Platform at the Fishing Quarter Gallery, Brighton. We have all had lots of fun, it has been a super pleasure being able to spend some time with some true creatives.
One of the ten artists exhibiting at this year’s Platform is Lou Taylor, Brighton’s very own self-taught paper cutter. She has been showing her new collection of work entitled “Synchro” along side some pieces from her previous collections. All of Lou’s pieces are completely cut by hand using a scalpel, brightly coloured papers and lots of time and patience.
The synchro collection includes ladies in their swimming hats and an amazing birds eye view of a swimming pool with eight synchronised swimmers, this piece really shows off her skills.
I am in love with the work from the ‘Totally Tropical’ collection, it is so zingy and uplifting and full of summer vibes. From the lady with her fruity hat to toucans, flamingoes and pineapples the pieces have a retro feel and would surly brighten up any wall space!
Lou surely must be going far, her eye for colour combined with her cutting skills and choice of subject makes the work striking, fun and very desirable.
The work is available in Lou’s online shop you can see her work on her website or follow Lou on twitter for regular updates…
