Time to get dressed up
If you’re in Brighton and like dresses then luck is on your side, there is a brand new dress shop in town like no other. With it’s gorgeously kitch fabric covered walls, great selection of dresses and jewellery ‘Dig for Victory’ is the brain child of multi talented Eleanor Callaghan, who already has a massive following online and ships her dresses worldwide.
The dresses are beautiful and totally unique, made from often vivid and brightly coloured vintage fabrics which Eleanor has hand picked from charity shops, at vintage fairs and in flea markets, hence ‘Dig for Victory’.
You may reccognise Eleanor not for her dresses but as the better (or should I say politer) half of the Bobby Mcgees, She began making dresses to wear on stage which added the initial fun and bold character to her work.
As a self taught pattern cutter many of Eleanor’s styles are really unique and playful, inspired by childhood days of playing dressing up, she allows the history of the fabric play a part in dictating how the dress will look.
The shop is located on Eastern Road and is definitely a destination store, Eleanor offers a complete bespoke made to measure service and you are invited to look through the fabric store to see if something takes your eye (and heart).
Eco friendly, made to measure, affordably priced and full of character, putting these elements together Dig for Victory is definitely the place to go for a perfectly special dress. Can’t make it to the store then there is always the Etsy shop…
