Oh, but I want to...

The conversation went something like this:

Me: "It’s going to be really busy out, you don’t need to bring all that."
M: "Oh"
Me: "We’re just going to have a little look, and then we’ll go and get a toastie."
M: "Oh"
Me: "So you probably don’t need to bring all that".
M: "Oh, but I want to."

I watched as Matilda packed her bag with everything you'd need for a full-blown watercolour expedition. I've learned to let go a little and let the girl do what the girl wants - within reason of course.

We left the house for Hastings Old Town. The Green Man Festival was in full swing. And it was busy to say the least.

We decided that hunger was more important than the crowds, so we shuffled our way to the cafe.

Matilda unloaded her supplies, set up her paints, and calmly continued a painting she'd started the day before. Regardless. Unfazed.

"Daily painting is on my list," I thought, sipping my coffee and stared into space. "If only I could find the time to fit it in."
