Finding your Audacity

I’ve had a little obsession with this word of late.
Audacity.
I’m not sure what triggered it.
But it speaks to me.

There’s something naughty about it.
The kind of word that would fall from the lips of an uptight adult
- intended to keep a child in place.
There is a whispering of shame when it's used to control.

It says:
Stay small.
Be quiet.
Don’t dare.
It draws lines in behaviour that good girls do not cross.

Audacity, to me,
Asks me to question the glass ceiling.
To question unseen rules.
It’s a break free word.
A fuck yeah word.
Unapologetic.
Daring.
A word that can hold power.

"Find your audacity" is playing in my head as I move forward with my work.

What does audacity mean to you?
Is it positive or negative?
Is it something you too can lean into?

This is Day One.
A 100-day writing challenge.
Where serendipity crossed the paths of Judy and me.

Let’s see where this goes.

Audacity
A willingness to take bold risks.
Rude or disrespectful behaviour; impudence.
