A power tool in your pocket...

One of the first things I learned at art school -
use a pocket sized sketchbook.

You probably have a notebook.
The kind with lines.
The kind that keeps things neat and contained.

But have you tried blank pages?
Just freedom.

And space.

Language is taught.
Doodles are instinct.

I’m not asking you to become an artist.
I’m inviting you to let a little freedom in,
so your mind and your pen can roam.

On the bus.
In a cafe.
In a queue.

A power tool in your pocket.
Future gold you can come back to.
Seeds you plant without knowing why.

A record of what you noticed.
What made you laugh.
What made you think.

A quiet connection with yourself,
carried through the day.
